Our Procedures and Fee structure.

Unlike most companies Amethyst Simon will carry out an inspection and valuation of your premises before advising whether or not an appeal should be made. The fee for this preliminary advice will depend upon the size and nature of the property and will be geared in relation to the Rateable Value of the premises as follows:

  • For Rateable Values up to £50,000 £250.00
  • For Rateable Values from £50,001 to £100,000 £350.00
  • For Rateable Values from £100,001 to £250,000 £500.00
  • For Rateable Values from £250,001 to £500,000 £750.00
  • For Rateable Values in excess of £500,000 £1.000.00

If our advice is not to appeal the rating assessment then, clearly, no further fee will be payable.

If, however, our advice is to appeal against the Rateable Value then a further fee will be payable dependent upon the outcome of the appeal. This fee will, generally, be calculated at 15% of the resultant reduction in Rateable Value.

In some cases it is not possible to agree appeals by negotiation and it may be necessary to argue such appeals before a Local Valuation Tribunal or, in extreme cases, before The Lands Tribunal. In circumstances such as this our additional fee will be on a “quantum meruit” basis and will be arrived at by agreement with our client.
